Introduction #
In this doc we explain more on the reactivation fee and how it works. This includes the benefits it has for both ProRedLine and the customer.
What the Reactivation Fee Is #
The reactivation fee is a one-time €5 fee that may apply when a subscription is renewed after the original due date has already passed and the service has entered the grace period. This fee is linked to the temporary recovery of a suspended prepaid service.
Under the ProRedLine prepaid model, customers are expected to renew the next billing cycle before the due date. If that does not happen, the service is not immediately deleted. Instead, it is first suspended for a limited period so the customer still has a chance to continue the subscription without losing the service right away.
Why the Reactivation Fee Exists #
The reactivation fee exists because ProRedLine keeps the suspended service and its data available during the 7-day grace period instead of cancelling it immediately. During that time, the service still occupies resources, such as storage space, while remaining inactive and unavailable to the customer.
In addition, reactivating a suspended service may require manual handling by ProRedLine Support. The fee helps cover that operational overhead and supports a fair billing structure within the prepaid model.
This approach also encourages timely renewal before the due date. Paying on time remains the simplest way to avoid interruption, extra handling, and additional fees.
When the Fee Applies #
The reactivation fee may apply when:
- the original due date has passed
- the subscription has become suspended
- the customer still wants to continue the same subscription during the grace period
If payment is made before the due date, the reactivation fee does not apply.
How to Avoid the Reactivation Fee #
The best way to avoid the reactivation fee is to pay the renewal order before the due date. In most cases, the upcoming renewal can already be paid from 7 days before the due date through the customer account.
This allows the next billing cycle to be secured in advance and prevents the subscription from entering suspension.
If There Was a Payment Problem #
If you experience trouble making the renewal payment, it is important to contact support before the due date whenever possible. If the grace period has already started and the payment could not be completed because of a problem on ProRedLine’s side, the reactivation fee may be removed and the renewal may still be allowed without the extra charge.
This is reviewed based on the specific situation.
Choosing Not to Renew #
It is also possible not to renew during the grace period. In that case, the subscription will eventually be cancelled under the prepaid model. Once cancelled, the service data is permanently removed and the same subscription cannot be reactivated afterward.
A new subscription can still be ordered later, but it will start as a new service instance rather than continuing with the previous customized data and configuration.
