AI Doc Summarizer Thinking Thinking

Introduction #

In this doc you will find usefull information regarding your BeamMP Game Server at ProRedLine. After reading this doc, you’ll know how to configure your server, install and run the BeamMP client, and more.

Startup Variables #

Once the server has been created, you will need to configure it before it can run as expected.

On your server’s dashboard, go to the “Startup” tab. Here, you will find several settings that you can configure according to your specific needs. Below is a list of options available for your BeamMP server in the “Startup” tab:

  • STARTUP COMMAND and DOCKER IMAGE are read-only variables and cannot be modified.
  1. SERVER NAME. The name of your server. This is what appears on the server list.
  2. SERVER DESCRIPTION. Sets the server description. Can be shown on the server list.
  3. BEAMMP SERVER VERSION. The BeamMP server version to be installed. Latest or invalid versions will default to latest.
  4. AUTHENTICATION KEY. The authentication key for your server. Your personal key can be obtained from the BeamMP keymaster at https://keymaster.beammp.com (External Site).
  5. MAX PLAYERS. The maximum number of players allowed on the server at the same time.
  6. PRIVATE. Enabling this, sets the server to private. This restricts public joining.
  7. MAX CARS. The maximum number of cars/objects allowed to be spawned per player.
  8. MAP. The map for your server. Make sure to enter the entire path as shown below (ex: /levels/gridmap_v2/info.json) Stock maps:
    • Gridmap V2: /levels/gridmap_v2/info.json
    • Automation Test Track: /levels/automation_test_track/info.json
    • East Coast USA: /levels/east_coast_usa/info.json
    • Hirochi Raceway: /levels/hirochi_raceway/info.json
    • Italy: /levels/italy/info.json
    • Jungle Rock Island: /levels/jungle_rock_island/info.json
    • Industrial: /levels/industrial/info.json
    • Small Island: /levels/small_island/info.json
    • Small Grid: /levels/smallgrid/info.json
    • Utah: /levels/utah/info.json
    • West Coast USA: /levels/west_coast_usa/info.json
    • Driver Training: /levels/driver_training/info.json
    • Derby: /levels/derby/info.json
  9. CHAT LOGGING. Enable chat logging by the server

Starting your server #

Once everything is set up, you can start the server from the “Console” tab by clicking “Start”. Please allow some time for the server to start. Your server has started succesfully when the console shows: [INFO] ALL SYSTEMS STARTED SUCCESSFULLY, EVERYTHING IS OKAY

Changing Configurations #

If you wish to change settings not listed in the Variables section, you can edit the server’s settings in-game. However, be aware that any changes to the server settings that correspond to settings in the Startup tab will be overwritten by the Variables options. Therefore, it’s recommended to only modify the server settings for settings not available in the Startup tab.

Install & Run BeamMP Client #

BeamMP is a multiplayer mod for BeamNG.drive. Therefore, to join and play on your BeamMP server (or any other), you must install their mod and install it first. We’ve got the following information from the BeamMP website here. If you encounter any issues after following the guide in this doc, we recommend trying again with the official client installation documentation.

  1. Visit the beammp.com website and install the client software by clicking on ‘Download Client’.
  2. Once downloaded, extract the ZIP to any destination you prefer.
  3. Within the extracted folder, open ‘BeamMP_Installer.exe’ and follow the instructions.
  4. The BeamMP Launcher icon will now appear on your desktop. Otherwise, start the launcher located in the folder you extracted from the zipped file.
  5. After launching, a command prompt will appear. This command prompt connects your game to BeamMP. Therefore do not close this command prompt to play with BeamMP.
  6. To view the server list, click on the ‘More…’ option within the home screen of BeamNG.drive and click ‘Multiplayer’.
  7. The first time (or anytime the command prompt gets closed) you will be prompted to login. This requires registering an account with BeamMP. It’s possible to play as guest on other servers, however this is not allowed on all servers. For your ProRedLine BeamMP server, this is something you can decide yourself within the server settings.
  8. Once logged in (or as guest), you will be shown the server list. You can now join any public server you like, including your ProRedLine server! Your own server can be found in the server list with the same name used in the Startup variables under ‘SERVER NAME’. Name changes usually get published to the server list within 2 minutes on BeamMP.
  9. Have fun!

Updating server #

To update your server’s software, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the “Settings” Tab: Open your server dashboard and navigate to the Settings tab.
  2. Scroll Down: Locate the option labeled Reinstall Server.
  3. Click on “Reinstall Server”: This will start the reinstallation process.

Important note: Reinstalling your server using this method will update the core files only. Your saved data, mods, and custom configurations will generally remain intact. However, we strongly recommend creating a backup of all essential data before proceeding, as some server types may still overwrite or remove custom content.

Clean Reinstallation #

To fully reinstall your server with a clean set of software and files:

  1. Stop the Server: Ensure your server is not running.
  2. Delete All Files: Navigate to the Files tab, select all folders and files, and click Delete.
  3. Reinstall the Server: Once all files are removed, follow the same steps outlined above for updating your server.

Note: This process will permanently remove all files from your server, including custom folders, mods, and configurations. This action is irreversible unless you have created a backup
