Web Hosting and Site Hosting allow you to connect a domain to a website hosted on ProRedLine servers.
Once connected correctly, visitors can access your website using your domain name.
Site Hosting is treated the same as Web Hosting in this context.
What Is Required to Use a Domain with Web Hosting #
To use a domain with Web Hosting, you need:
- An active Web Hosting or Site Hosting subscription
- A registered domain
- Correct DNS configuration
All ProRedLine hosting packages include DNS zone management.
Connecting a Domain to Web Hosting #
A domain can be connected in two ways:
- By registering the domain through ProRedLine
DNS must point to the hosting server.
DNS Configuration for Web Hosting #
To make a domain work with Web Hosting:
- The A or AAAA record must point to the correct server IP
- DNS changes must be allowed to propagate
Without correct DNS, the website will not load.
Adding the Domain in cPanel #
Once DNS is correct:
- Log in to cPanel
- Go to the Domains section
- Add or verify the domain
- Confirm the document root location
The document root determines where website files are stored.
Document Root Explained #
The document root:
- Is the folder containing your website files
- Must contain an index file
- Is different for each domain
Incorrect document roots cause websites to show the wrong content.
Primary and Additional Domains #
Depending on your hosting package:
- One primary domain is always included
- Additional domains may be allowed
Package limits determine how many domains can be used.
Using External DNS or Providers #
If DNS is managed externally:
- Records must still point to ProRedLine
- AutoSSL may not work if DNS is misconfigured
- Email services may be affected
Always verify external DNS settings carefully.
Common Issues #
- Website not loading after DNS change
- Wrong website content showing
- SSL not activating
- Domain added before DNS propagation completed
These issues are usually configuration-related.
Responsibility Notice #
You are responsible for:
- Correct DNS configuration
- Placing files in the correct document root
- Understanding hosting package limits
ProRedLine does not automatically fix incorrect domain setups.
