Email Hosting allows you to send and receive email using your own domain name.
To make this work, the domain must be correctly connected to the Email Hosting service using DNS records.
Email Hosting does not include website hosting.
What Is Required to Use a Domain with Email Hosting #
To use a domain with Email Hosting, you need:
- An active Email Hosting subscription
- A registered domain
- Correct DNS configuration for email
All ProRedLine subscriptions include access to the DNS Zone Editor.
DNS Records Required for Email Hosting #
Email delivery depends on specific DNS records.
MX Records #
MX records define:
- Which mail servers receive email for your domain
Without correct MX records, incoming email will not work.
SPF, DKIM and DMARC #
These records:
- Authenticate outgoing email
- Reduce spam filtering
- Improve deliverability
Incorrect or missing records can cause emails to be rejected or marked as spam.
Where to Configure Email DNS Records #
Email-related DNS records can be managed:
- In the DNS Zone Editor in cPanel
- Or at an external DNS provider, if used
Changes require DNS propagation time.
Using an External Domain with Email Hosting #
If your domain is registered elsewhere:
- MX records must point to ProRedLine mail servers
- Existing email-related records must be reviewed
- Conflicting records must be removed
External DNS misconfiguration is a common cause of email issues.
Email Hosting Without a Website #
Email Hosting works independently of websites.
You can:
- Use email without a website
- Use Email Hosting while your website is hosted elsewhere
Website DNS records are not required for email-only usage.
Testing Email Functionality #
After DNS changes:
- Wait for propagation
- Send a test email to the domain
- Reply to verify outgoing delivery
Propagation can take up to 24–48 hours.
Common Issues #
- Emails not arriving
- Emails going to spam
- Old mail servers still receiving email
- Multiple MX records pointing to different providers
These issues are almost always DNS-related.
Responsibility Notice #
You are responsible for:
- Correct email DNS configuration
- Allowing time for propagation
- Avoiding conflicting MX records
ProRedLine does not automatically fix custom DNS setups.
