You can use your ProRedLine email account in desktop email clients such as Outlook, Apple Mail and Thunderbird.
All clients require the same basic connection details.
ProRedLine uses secure, authenticated email connections.
What You Need Before Setup #
Before configuring your email client, make sure you have:
- An active email account
- The full email address and password
- Access to cPanel if you need to verify settings
Email accounts must already exist before setup.
Required Email Settings (Important) #
Use the following settings for all email clients.
Incoming Mail (IMAP) #
- Server:
mail.yourdomain.com - Port:
993 - Encryption: SSL/TLS
- Authentication: Required
- Username: Full email address
- Password: Email account password
IMAP is recommended because it keeps email synchronized across devices.
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) #
- Server:
mail.yourdomain.com - Port:
465 - Encryption: SSL/TLS
- Authentication: Required
- Username: Full email address
- Password: Email account password
Outgoing authentication is mandatory.
Setting Up Email in Outlook #
- Open Outlook
- Add a new account
- Choose manual setup
- Select IMAP
- Enter the incoming and outgoing settings
- Enter your password
- Complete the setup
Outlook may take a few minutes to sync the mailbox.
Setting Up Email in Apple Mail #
- Open Apple Mail
- Add a new account
- Choose Other Mail Account
- Enter name, email address and password
- Enter the server settings manually
- Confirm and save
Apple Mail will verify the connection automatically.
Setting Up Email in Thunderbird #
- Open Thunderbird
- Add a new email account
- Enter your name, email address and password
- Choose manual configuration
- Enter the IMAP and SMTP settings
- Save the configuration
Thunderbird may suggest incorrect defaults. Always verify the settings.
Common Setup Mistakes #
- Using the domain name instead of
mail.yourdomain.com - Forgetting authentication on SMTP
- Using POP instead of IMAP
- Entering only the username instead of the full email address
- Using the wrong port or encryption type
Any of these will cause connection failures.
Testing After Setup #
After setup:
- Send a test email to an external address
- Reply to confirm incoming email works
- Check Sent folder synchronization
If sending fails, check SMTP settings first.
DNS and Propagation Notes #
If the email account was created recently or DNS was changed:
- Allow time for propagation
- Use webmail to confirm the account works
Client setup does not bypass DNS issues.
Responsibility Notice #
You are responsible for:
- Correct email client configuration
- Securing login credentials
- Keeping software up to date
ProRedLine does not configure email clients remotely.
