ProRedLine is rolling out a security upgrade to our mail environment. To keep your accounts aligned with modern security standards, we are enforcing a stricter mail authentication security policy. As a result, some (older) mailbox credentials must be updated once.
Deadline: March 12, 2026
After this date, mailboxes still using the legacy password format may temporarily lose access until the password has been updated.
Which accounts are affected? #
This action applies only to individual accounts inside your cPanel account, such as:
- Email mailboxes (Email Accounts)
- Any separate CalDAV (calendar) accounts
- Any separate CardDAV (contacts) accounts
- Any separate WebDAV (Web Disk) accounts
Your cPanel login password does not need to be changed.
Calendar, contacts & WebDAV #
- If you use your email mailbox password for calendar/contacts and/or WebDAV as well (meaning you do not have separate CalDAV/CardDAV/WebDAV accounts):
- Updating the email mailbox password is sufficient.
- If you do have separate CalDAV (calendar), CardDAV (contacts), and/or WebDAV (Web Disk) accounts created in cPanel:
- Those accounts must be updated too.
How to update your password in cPanel #
- Log in to cPanel via your own domain, for example: https://cpanel.proredline.com
- Go to: Email ⇒ Email Accounts
- Click Manage next to the mailbox/account
- Set a new password under New Password
- Click the blue button at the bottom: Update Email Settings
- Recommended: update the password in your email application (iPhone Mail / Outlook / Thunderbird) and confirm that login works
What if my mail app stops connecting after March 12, 2026? #
If an affected mailbox has not been updated by March 12, 2026, your email client may show an “incorrect password” or “cannot connect” message. This is resolved by:
- updating the password in cPanel (steps above)
- entering the new password in your email app on all devices
