Restoring files and databases allows you to recover website data from available backups after accidental deletion, errors or failed updates.
ProRedLine provides automatic backups that can be restored using cPanel tools.
What Can Be Restored #
Depending on backup availability, you can restore:
- Website files and folders
- MySQL databases
- Database users
- Website content related to Site Hosting and Web Hosting
Email data is restored separately and not covered here.
Types of Restores Available #
There are two main restore methods in cPanel:
File and Directory Restoration #
- Restores files and folders from server-side backups
- Does not require manual uploads
- Uses ProRedLine’s automatic daily, weekly or monthly backups
This is the recommended method when available.
Manual Restore via Backup Wizard #
- Requires you to upload a backup file
- Used for restoring your own backups
- Suitable when server backups are unavailable
This method depends on customer-managed backup files.
Restoring Website Files #
To restore files using server backups:
- Log in to cPanel
- Go to Backup or File and Directory Restoration
- Select the backup date
- Choose the files or folders to restore
- Confirm the restore
Restored files overwrite existing files.
Restoring Databases #
To restore a database:
- Open Backup or Backup Wizard
- Select the database restore option
- Choose the backup date or upload a backup file
- Confirm the restore
Database restores overwrite existing database content.
Important Restore Warnings #
Before restoring:
- Current files or databases may be lost
- Restores cannot be undone
- Partial restores may cause inconsistencies
Always verify what will be restored.
When Restores Are Not Possible #
Restores may not be possible if:
- The backup retention period has passed
- The data was excluded from backups
- The backup is corrupted or incomplete
Backup availability is not guaranteed.
Best Practices Before Restoring #
You should:
- Create a manual backup first
- Verify the restore date
- Restore files and databases together when required
- Test the website after restoration
Restores may require additional configuration.
Responsibility Notice #
You are responsible for:
- Initiating restores
- Verifying restored data
- Maintaining your own backups
ProRedLine does not guarantee successful restoration in all cases.
