After installing WordPress, the website is technically working, but it is not ready for real use yet.
A few initial steps are required to avoid common issues later.
These steps apply to WordPress installations created via WP Toolkit at ProRedLine.
Step 1: Log In to the WordPress Admin Panel #
Log in using one of the following methods:
- Click Log in in WP Toolkit
- Visit
yourdomain.com/wp-admin
Use the admin username and password created during installation.
Step 2: Verify the Website Loads Correctly #
Before changing anything:
- Open your domain in a browser
- Confirm the default WordPress page loads
- Check that the URL is correct
- Verify HTTPS is active if DNS is ready
Fix basic access issues before continuing.
Step 3: Check the Installed Plugins #
At ProRedLine:
- A custom ProRedLine helper plugin is installed by default
- No other plugins are preinstalled
Do not remove plugins unless you understand their purpose.
Step 4: Set Basic Site Information #
Go to Settings -> General and check:
- Site title
- Tagline
- Site URL and WordPress URL
- Admin email address
- Timezone
Incorrect settings here can cause login and URL issues.
Step 5: Update WordPress Core #
Before adding content:
- Check for WordPress core updates
- Apply updates if available
Running outdated WordPress immediately increases security risk.
Step 6: Choose or Install a Theme #
Your site uses a default theme.
You may:
- Keep the default theme temporarily
- Install a different theme later
Avoid installing multiple themes at once.
Step 7: Review User Accounts #
Go to Users and:
- Confirm admin access works
- Remove unused accounts
- Assign correct roles if adding users
Never share admin credentials.
Step 8: Check Permalink Settings #
Go to Settings → Permalinks and:
- Select a clean permalink structure
- Save settings once
This affects URLs and SEO.
Step 9: Plan Before Installing Plugins #
Before installing plugins:
- Decide what functionality you actually need
- Avoid installing many plugins at once
- Install only trusted and maintained plugins
Plugins are the most common cause of issues.
What Not to Do Immediately #
Avoid:
- Installing many plugins at once
- Editing files without backups
- Disabling security features
- Ignoring updates
Rushing setup often causes problems.
Backup Reminder #
Before major changes:
- Ensure backups exist
- Create a manual backup if possible
Backups are your responsibility.
Responsibility Notice #
You are responsible for:
- Configuring WordPress correctly
- Managing updates
- Securing the site
- Testing changes
ProRedLine provides the platform, not WordPress configuration.
